Any kind of injury, abnormalities or inflammation can cause neck pain. Many people experience stiffness or neck pain occasionally. Sometimes it can be caused from injuries like whiplash, fall or through sports.

Sometimes it is not serious, and can be relieved within few days of caring and exercising. Whereas in some cases it can be because of serious illness or injury and require doctor’s care. Neck pain can happen due to different kinds of reasons. For example: Poor Posture, desk job where you sit for too long without changing your position; Injury, neck is vulnerable to injuries, when you are prone to accidents, falls, sports, when the neck bone is fractured or the spinal cord is damaged; sleeping in a bad position; or jerking during exercise.

Ease neck pain at home

2Ice Pack

Ice Pack

Ice pack is one of the simplest home remedy for minor stiffness or pain in the neck. The cold temperature helps to alleviate pain and reduce inflammation. In a plastic bag, put some crushed ice cubes. Then wrap the bag in the towel. Put the bag on your neck for 15 minutes. Do this remedy in every 2 to 3 hours in a day.

Note: avoid applying ice directly on skin

3Hydrotherapy

Many of us are not aware of the benefits of Hydrotherapy. It is an effective remedy for neck pain we can do in the shower at home. Apply a force of water in the affected area. It will reduce pain and soreness (if any).

A force of warm water on the neck for 3 to four minutes, then switch to cold water for 30 to 60 seconds. Try to repeat as many times as possible. The warm water will increase blood circulation and ease stiff muscles and the cold water will help in reducing inflammation.

Note: Be sure to keep your neck straight, while in shower.

4Epsom Salt Bath

Epsom Salt Bath

If you bath in Epsom salt, it can help you reduce stress, relief you from pain instantly, and relieve muscle tension. The magnesium sulfate in the salt work as a natural muscle relaxant.

Add two cups of salt in a warm bath. Try to soak the neck area for 15 to 20 minutes. Doing it daily will help in healing fast.

Note: If you have high blood pressure, diabetes or heart problem try to avoid it.

5Apple Cider Vinegar

Apple cider vinegar has anti-inflammatory and antioxidants that can give you relief from neck pain quickly. It also have a number of important nutrients which can cure any nutrient-deficiency related pain.

To apply soak a towel or paper towel in the vinegar. Apply it on the affected area of the neck. Leave for a couple of hours. Try to repeat twice a day until there is a relief from the pain.

You can also add 2 cups of apple cider vinegar into your lukewarm bath water. Soak for 15minutes. Try this once a day until the recovery.

6Neck Exercises

There are different types of neck exercises that will help you in reducing neck pain. The Exercises will help in stabilizing and strengthening your neck muscles as well as reduce stress.

Before starting these exercises apply steam on your neck. Try to slowly rotate your your neck in a clockwise and anti-clockwise circular motion, it will help in stretching out the agitated muscles. In the beginning, it may pain a little, but ultimately it will loosen up and heal your neck. You can also try to move your neck back and forth or side by side slowly.

Each of these exercises must be done five times per session, three sessions a day. If it hurts or if you do not find any difference in pain, then consult your doctor.

7Lavender Oil

Lavender Oil

Just like apple cider vinegar even lavender oil can be used to cure neck pain. It is very effective if used along with massage therapy. Massage can help you relax your tense muscles and sleep better.

Take a hot bath, then rub some lavender oil on your neck. By applying pressure gently massage in circular motion in the affected area for 10 minutes. Repeat everyday if needed. You can dilute it with Olive or Coconut oil.

Note: Try not to massage if it pains
