It is common to have issues with your hair. But that doesn’t mean you don’t take care of your hair and leave it unhealthy. There are many factors that cause hair problems. Dandruff is the most common problem among the people and it aggravates during the humid season. Dandruff is a common scalp condition which is chronic, but not contiguous. Formation of dry, white flakes of dead skin with hair and scalp is dandruff. And it may also be accompanied by itching and burning sensation. Those with oily skin are more prone to this problem as it is usually a mild form of seborrheic dermatitis.

Dandruff is caused by cold, dry weather, infrequent shampooing, sensitivity to hair products, overgrowth of yeast-like fungus and conditions like eczema and psoriasis. Here are some of the hair care tips to get rid of dandruff.

1Baby Oil

Baby Oil

Massage your scalp with baby oil. Use the oil sparsely. Wrap a towel and leave it overnight. Next day use an anti-dandruff shampoo to rinse off the oil.

2Cedar Wood Oil

Cedar Wood Oil

Take a bowl with 7 drops of cedar wood oil. Add 10 drops of juniper and cypress oil. Then take 50 ml normal oil and add it in the bowl. Apply the mixture on your hair and scalp and leave it for one hour. Shampoo your oil to rinse your hair. To get rid of any leftover dandruff use the same quantity of essential oils in 600 ml of luke warm water and then rinse it.

3Olive Oil

Olive Oil

Apply olive oil on your hair and wrap with a towel. Leave it overnight. Next day Shampoo your hair to rinse off the oil.

4Coconut Oil

Firstly shampoo your hair, but do not condition it. After your hair is dry, massage your scalp with coconut oil. Leave it for an hour and rinse off. Follow this hair care tips once in a week till you get rid of dandruff.

5Tea Tree Oil

Tea Tree Oil

Rub tea tree oil mixed with the carrier oil to your scalp or rub a shampoo with 5 % concentration of tea tree oil to your scalp. Leave it for 5 minutes and rinse with water.

6Neem and Olive Oil

Neem and Olive Oil

Take some neem leaves and make neem powder. Add 4 tbsp of olive oil to the powder. Apply the mixture to your scalp.

Note: You will get itching on your scalp once you apply the mixture. Don’t scratch your head.

Apply the mixture preferably while going to bed and keep it overnight. Then wash your hair once you wake up. Neem powder is said to be one of the most effected hair care tips for dandruff.

7Coconut and Honey

Coconut and Honey

Take a bowl and add coconut oil, olive oil, honey and yoghurt. Mix well. The paste should be thick. Apply the paste on your scalp and massage well for 10 minutes. This will help to open the pores and increase the blood circulation. Leave your hair for half an hour by wrapping it with steam or wet towel. Rinse off using normal shampoo and use the conditioner for the ends of your hair. Make sure you do not expose your hair to heat for some time. This will keep your scalp nourished.

8Fenugreek Seeds

Grind a tablespoon of fenugreek seeds without using the mixer. Soak the powder in two cups of water for overnight. Strain the mixture and apply it on your scalp.

9Egg Yolks

Take 4-5 egg yolks in a bowl. Apply it on your dry scalp. Use a shower cap to avoid the odour. Rinse after an hour using shampoo and then apply conditioner.

10Baking Soda

Take some baking soda in a bowl. Add some water and apply it on your scalp. Wash your hair with baking soda instead of shampoo. Do this for 2 weeks and you will see effective results.

Form a paste by adding some baking soda to lemon juice. Apply it on your scalp and leave till scalp starts feeling itchy. Wash off and condition your hair with apple cider vinegar.

Wash your hair with ice water. Do not shampoo, just rinse. Take an equal portion of malt vinegar, white vinegar and water. Mix well. Apply the mixture on your scalp and leave for 10 minutes. Rinse well. Then form a paste of baking soda adding 30 ml of water. Apply it on your scalp and leave it for 3 minutes. Rinse off.

13Banana

Banana

Peel a banana and mix it with two cups of vinegar. You must stir till a thick consistency paste is formed. Apply the paste on your hair and massage your scalp for 5-10 minutes. Make sure all your hair is covered with the mixture. Leave it for one and half hour and rinse off. Apply this mixture once in a week for good results.

14Yoghurt

Yoghurt

Wash your hair with water without using shampoo. Apply plain yogurt to your scalp and leave it for 15 minutes. Rinse off using very little amount of shampoo to get rid of yoghurt smell on your hair.
